A graveside funeral service for longtime Granada resident C.A. “Cricket” Barber will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Hillside Cemetery in Granada with Reverend Kathy Leathers officiating. Per Cricket’s request there will be no visitation.
Cricket was born on February 9, 1920 at Brandon, Colorado to James Edward and Florence A.E. (Johnson) Barber and departed this life on Sunday December 28, 2014 at Prowers Medical Center in Lamar at the age of 94.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandson; Joshua Grasmick, three brothers and one sister.
Cricket is survived by his wife of 69 years; Mildred Barber of the family home in Granada, children; Sandra Jameson of Platteville, CO, Sheryl (Tom) Grasmick of Granada and Jim (Michelle) Barber of Pueblo, CO. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and a host of friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Granada United Methodist Church and/or Granada/Bristol First Responders either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
Services are under the direction of the Peacock Funeral Home.
