Funeral services for Marie Long will be held at 10:00 a. m. Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Las Animas, Colorado. Reverend Tom Dudley will officiate. Interment will immediately follow the services at the Bent/Las Animas Cemetery.
Euna Marie Long, affectionately known as Marie, Blondie, or Boots, was born on August 8, 1922 in Rosston, Oklahoma to Jesse and Maud (Kern) Morris. She was the 9th of 10 and the last one living. She passed away on October 9, 2014, in La Junta at the age of 92.
Marie met her husband Clarence Long in Sugar City, CO, introduced by one of his sisters. They were married in Arnett, OK on July 30, 1940. To this union of 67 and one-half years, 6 children were born.
Marie spent all of her married life in South Eastern Colorado, where she enjoyed sewing clothing for her family, decorating cakes, and painting pictures.
Marie is survived by her children, Merlene and husband Jim Klinkerman, Gene Long, Jim Long and Janet McGuaghey, Lola Baublits and Bub Bland, Lenda and husband Frank Sumpter; Sister-in-laws, Marge Morris and Kitty Ann Long; 15 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Maud (Kern) Morris; husband Clarence Long; Son Glendon Long; Son-in-law Bob Baublits; daughter-in-law Susan Long; 5 brothers; 4 sisters; grandson Bobby Sumpter; and one great granddaughter.
