Eat, Drink and be Scary-2014 Moonlight Madness

Moonlight Madness for downtown Lamar will get underway this year, Thursday, October 30, as early as 5pm for some participating businesses. Black and Orange will be the most sought after colors for the event and cats will figure into Halloween shopping events this year.
Shoppers can take part in a kitty-cat hunt, using trail maps available at participating businesses, listing the breeds of cats they’ll find as they visit various stores. The evening will conclude with a drawing for various prizes from all the registration forms submitted that night. Weather permitting, food vendors will line the streets and the coffee shops and other businesses will have food available inside. A Treat Street will be held at 122 South Main, the former Crafters Corner for kids in costume, under 12 years of age. Folks can enjoy a scary time at the traditional Haunted House at 210 West Elm Street, open Thursday and Friday of this week at 7pm with a special kid’s viewing early Friday evening. The proceeds are donated to the annual July 4th fireworks fund.
While folks are bargain hunting downtown, trick or treaters will prepare to make the traditional Halloween rounds in their neighborhood on the 31st, viewing some of the spooktacular decorations that are on display.
