The City of Lamar is hosting a fall Clean-Up Day, Saturday, October 11, from 7am to 4pm. An earlier date had been postponed due to so many community events taking place. Curbside trash collections will be done by City Crews, working through the day with volunteers.
Area residents are asked to have their trash piled in from of their houses no later than 7am. It’s recommended that the debris and discarded items not be placed the night before. Items should be separated by content and liquid disposables should be labeled.
Items that will be picked up include: tires, latex/oil base paint, treated wood items such as fence posts or bridge timbers, used oil filters (drained of oil), white goods such as freezers or washers, tv’s or computers, tree limbs and yard waste ( leaves should be bagged) and limbs should be piled together.
Work crews cannot accept junk vehicles, burn barrels, and loose piles of trash or demolition debris/asbestos items. Items such as lead acid batteries, fluorescent bulbs, household pesticides or rodent control poisons must be brought to the collection point at the Lamar Fire Department.
Volunteers must meet at 6:30am at the Public Works Department at 103 North Second Street for instructions. Bring work gloves. An appreciation BBQ lunch for workers will be served at Willow Creek Park at Noon.
