Fiesta de Colores Festival Set for Sept 12/13 in Granada

This year’s Fiesta de Colores Festival will be held in Granada for five candidates for Queen with the coronation set for Friday, September 12 and a parade and festivities will be held on Saturday at the town park. The banquet will be held at the Granada Complex for the contestants, their parents and the judges. The complex will be open at 8pm to the public on Friday for the official announcement of the queen and the first and second runners-up.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three and the winners are based on the amount of raffle tickets each candidate sells. Raffle prizes will be awarded on Saturday for first through 5th places and prizes include a wide-screen tv, a laptop computer, a Kindle, and other items. The parade will begin at 10am from the high school and proceed to the town park for a variety of entertainment activities including a horseshoe tournament, vendors, dancing and music. Mike Ortiz is this year’s committee president. This year’s Queen candidates are: Juanita Correa, Wendy Galan, Miriam Sanchez, Anna Settles and Marienette Vargas.
