Best Seat in the House

“What am I bid for this colorful commode???!” These toilets, gently used, will be up for bid until September 21, with the auction taking place on facebook, not in the physical world in Lamar. Area residents have noticed with amusement and probably some confusion, several colorfully colored toilets on display in front of homes and businesses throughout the town these past few weeks.
The concept is part of a fundraising campaign to defray medical expenses for Danielle Dechant’s cancer treatments. A resident can pay to have a toilet removed from their location that was ‘dropped’ off, and they can pay a little extra to have it delivered to someone in mind. All the donations have gone into a fund set up at Colorado East Bank and Trust in Lamar. According to Deborah Harris, $3,000 has been raised to date and the amount will be increased with the facebook auction that concludes at 8pm this Sunday, September 21. As a bonus, Harris says the orange toilet has been turned into a Bronco model!
Perhaps a few Raiders fans will bid extra! The five toilets have been making the rounds, all with their flowers pre-installed. Danielle, a mother of a five year old and a one and a half year old, has been receiving radiation and chemotherapy treatment in Oklahoma for several weeks for Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma. Her radiation treatments ended this week and according to Harris, Brady Coen has offered to fly her home. Here’s hoping the auction turnout on facebook is successful. Contact Harris at 691-5157 for more information.
