Swim Beach Re-Opens at John Martin Reservoir

The Swim Beach at John Martin Reservoir has re-opened to the pubic after it was closed for two days this week. According to a person at the park office, the beach was re-opened for swimming as of yesterday, Thursday, August 14.
The Colorado Parks and Wildlife temporarily closed the swim beach at Lake Hasty after water quality test results revealed high then normal bacterial levels. The swim beach was closed on Wednesday afternoon. The Colorado Department of Health and Environment requires a weekly water test for quality to protect public safety. There was a spike in bacteria levels, primarily attributed to recent rains and warm temperatures as a contributing factor. Secondary tests were conducted and the park office at John Martin on Friday said the beach was re-opened for swimming on Thursday.
