Santia Rose Headlee affectionately known as Rose, was born January 2, 1945 in the Bronx, New York to Joseph and Fanny Martinez. She passed away on August 5th at the Bent County Health Care Center at the age of 69.

Rose’s parents came to the United States from Puerto Rico and settled in New York. Rose grew up in Queens and moved to Denver in the late 1960’s where she met her husband, Don. They were married in July 1970.  They lived in the Denver area until Don retired in 1994, then they moved to Las Animas.      Rose and Don had two son, Mark Headlee of Lamar and Chris Headlee of Las Animas. Rose and her husband also raised a foster son, Tom Shorter of Santa Fe, New Mexico. She is also survived by three step children, David of Colorado Springs, Steve of Morrison and Diane of Sedalia;  four grandchildren, Faith and Hope of Lamar and Joey and Emily of Swink; and six step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Ida and Francis; and brother, Joe.
She was a very talented artist. Cloth art and jewelry making were her love. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden. Memorial services for Rose are pending.  For more information or to leave online condolences visit www.horberfuneralchapel.com.
