The Prowers County Sheriff’s Office responded to 323 calls for service in May.  Lamar had 167 calls while Holly had 39 and the County posted 96 calls for the month.  Lamar had 48 legal papers or restraining orders served for May while the county had six.  The Sheriff’s Office responded to the county for Traffic Accidents and Problems 15 times for May.  There were 48 Jail Related calls for Lamar for May and Sheriff’s Officers handed out 12 traffic citations and summonses for that month.

One hundred-five persons were booked into the County Jail this past May, compared to 113 for last year and the total bookings to date is 509.  There were 71 males and 34 females in jail this past May, compared to 101 and 28 for May of 2013.  Of the 509, 369 were male and 140 were female.  Bookings for May included 22 Felonies and 37 Misdemeanors compared to 31 and 32 for May 2013.  Total to date for the year is 102 Felonies, compared to 168 Misdemeanors.  The jail averaged 47 inmates each day for May with 54 the monthly high and 38 the lowest for the month.

Four new cases were assigned in May and ten were cleared.  Investigations brought about 16 charges being filed and six investigations are still active from that month.  Courthouse security screened 5,810 visitors for May for a daily average of 277.  Security made nine arrests for individuals who had warrants issued for their arrest.

The cost of inmate meals for May was $10,755.42 and medical expenses were $345.82.  Expenses for the month came to $158,707.71 and Revenue was $20,849.11.
