One person was grazed in the neck from a gunshot when an assailant, armed with what is reported to have been a semi automatic handgun, opened fire at two persons, early Friday morning, August 1, at 109 East Beech Street in Lamar.
Information taken from an affidavit in support of a warrantless arrest indicates that William Gregor has been charged with Criminal Attempt of Second Degree Murder from a shooting incident in the vicinity of the Enchanted Forest on East Beech Street in the early morning hours of August 1.
Lamar Police Officer Pierce responded to a report of a person who had been shot in the neck at approximately 0237 hours on Friday morning. The individual stated that he had been walking from East Love’s in Lamar with another person after getting gas when William Gregor came up to them from behind and allegedly began to shoot at them. When one person was struck, Gregor was reported to have run away. The wounded party was treated at Prowers Medical Center. The other party had called 911 for assistance as the police arrived in the area, north of the railroad tracks by the bus barn. A search warrant was served on the defendant’s residence and he was taken into custody. A formal press release is expected early next week from the Lamar Police Department.
