TX Resident Dies in Single Car Crash in Prowers County

The Colorado State Patrol investigated a traffic crash involving a single vehicle that resulted in one fatality on Highway 287, in Prowers County.
A Toyota 4Runner was traveling northbound on Colorado 287, when it drifted off the right side of the road and collided with a guard rail. After impact, Toyota continued northbound traveling across the travel lanes and collided with another guard rail. After the second impact, Toyota continued northbound and began to rotate clockwise, traveling back across the travel lanes. The Toyota went off the right side of the road again and rolled 2 ½ times, colliding with a barbed wire fence and came to rest in an open field, on its roof, facing south.
The Toyota’s driver, 52-year-old Debra Hannah of Clyde, TX, was restrained (improperly) at the time of the crash, but died as result of her injuries. She was pronounced deceased by Prowers County Coroner.
At this time, the contributing factor to the crash is falling asleep at the wheel. The report was submitted on Monday, July 14, 2014
