Two Buttes Outdoor Adventure: Free Fun for the Whole Family

Two Buttes Reservoir (2)LAMAR, Colo. – There’s just one week left to get signed up for a weekend getaway your family won’t ever forget. Colorado Parks and Wildlife is still accepting registrations for their Two Buttes Outdoor Adventure, a free two and half day event, that helps families reconnect with nature and the outdoors.

This year the Two Buttes Outdoor Adventure is being held June 6 -8 at the Two Buttes State Wildlife Area. Participants must register by May 23.

“Try something different with your family this year,” said Travis Black, Area Wildlife Manager. “Everyone is welcome, especially those who are new to outdoor activities.”

Learn about outdoor survival, firearms safety and hunting. Then, break free from the classroom and get hands on experience shooting archery, muzzleloaders, shotguns and rifles. Participants who wish to put their skills to the test can also take the Hunter Safety Education exam at the end of the event and receive their Hunter Safety Certification.

“This is a unique opportunity for families who may not typically be comfortable going out and trying these things,” said Rick Gardner, District Wildlife Manager in Lamar. “We’re here to show you how in a safe and fun environment and it’s our hope that you’ll want to continue some of these activities in the future.”

This event is designed for adults and children over the age of nine. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Children under the age of nine may attend as part of a family, but may not be able to participate in some of the activities.

Meals will be provided Friday evening, all day Saturday and up through lunch on Sunday. Bring a tent and stay all weekend or travel back and forth daily.
