Funeral services for Donald Adair will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Holly High School in Holly, Colorado. Burial will follow in the Holly Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 27th at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Holly.

Donald Marion Adair was born in Pueblo, Colorado on May 13, 1941 to Jacob Marion and Ruth (Prosser) Adair. He passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2014 in Eads, Colorado at the age of 73.

Don attended Mesa Junior College and then Western State College where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education.  He later received his Master’s Degree. It was at Mesa College where he met his wife, Sharon Smith Adair.  They married on September 16, 1961 and were married for almost 53 years. To this union they had four children, Curtis, Sparky, Allison, and Audra.

Don taught and coached in Holly for 34 years where he led his wrestling teams to 12 state championships; including over 40 individual state champion wrestlers. He then moved to Eads, Colorado and taught another 3 years.  He wrapped up his career as a substitute teacher and coach in Cherry Creek School District.  He and Sharon retired in their home in Eads, Co.  He was diagnosed with a rare condition, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, in 2010.

Don is survived by his wife, Sharon of Eads, CO;  two sons, Curtis Adair and wife, Jennifer Kiddie Adair of Peoria, AZ and Sparky Adair and wife, Kimberly Goolsby Adair of Highlands Ranch, CO;  two daughters, Allison and husband, Marty Cutler of Craig, CO and Audra and husband, JW Neal of Holly, CO; brother, Bill Adair of Huston, TX; cousin, Melvin Diffendaffer and wife Myralee of Clifton, CO 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Ruth Adair.

In lieu of flowers, the Adair family is requesting donations be made to Holly Wrestling Club or Weisbrod Memorial Nursing Home in care of Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 950, Lamar, CO 81052.
