Dale Lee Ellenberger, loving husband, father and friend, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014, at the age of 79. A celebration of life will be held 9 a.m. Saturday, May 17, in White Chapel at Acton United Methodist Church, Granbury, with Pastor Chris Mesa officiating.
Memorial donations may be made to the 50/50 Sunday School Class of Acton United Methodist Church, 3433 Fall Creek Highway, Granbury, Texas 76049. Dale was born June 12, 1934, to the late Floyd Lee and Treulia Zoma Ellenberger in Lamar, Colo. He was a Korean War veteran in the United States Navy. Dale married the love of his life, Loretta Mae Orr, on Aug. 10, 1957, in Boulder, Colo. He obtained a bachelor of divinity degree in 1970 from Southwestern University at Winfield, Kan., and a master’s of divinity from St. Paul Seminary in Kansas City in 1973. He was ordained an elder of the United Methodist Church in 1974. He touched the lives of many people as he served at the following churches in the Kansas West Conference: Healy/Shields, Meade, Syracuse, Satanta, St. Luke’s in Wichita, Tisdale/Grandview and Canton/Galva. His pastimes were singing tenor, fishing, golfing, reading and theological discussions. He leaves behind a loving family very grateful for his love and support and he will be deeply missed.
The family thanks the employees of Community Hospice, Crowley Nursing & Rehab Center, Quail Park Assisted Living and Granbury Villa for their love and care during his final months.
Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta; his parents; one son, Andrew; and brother, Wendell Ellenberger. Survivors are: Son, Mark Ellenberger and wife, Anita; daughter, Melody Ellenberger; and many friends. Services conducted by Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home, Fort Worth, TX at info@mkfunerals.com
