The Annual Tri-State 9/11 Remembrance Committee would like to invite all present and past 1st Responders and Veterans and their families to submit pictures of their Heroes to be featured on our mobile “Wall of Honor.”
By the first of August pictures should be submitted to the Lamar Fire Station at the City Annex along with a brief history including dates of service, in order to be on this year’s mobile wall. After the pictures have been scanned, they will be immediately returned. Undersheriff Ron Trowbridge is designing and producing our mobile Wall of Honor and we plan on displaying it throughout Prowers County before, during and after our event. Each year we plan on adding additional segments to the Wall.
In other exciting news the Parade Route set for September 13th, will be moved off Main Street due to time constraints on closing Highway 287. The new parade route will start at Beech Street and 6th St. The participants will march south on 6th Street, by Thriftway and the Community Building, to Cedar, west on Cedar, and then head back south on 9th Street to the Fairgrounds. Residents along the parade route are encouraged to decorate their property featuring a patriotic theme. A Parade Judge will award a 1st prize of $100 in Luv Bucks and $50 in Luv Bucks to the Runner-up for the best decorated properties.
