URGENT – WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE-NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PUEBLO CO

The National Weather Service in Pueblo has issued a Winter Storm Warning for six counties in southeast Colorado. The Warning will be in effect from 5pm Monday, February 3, 2014 to 11am Tuesday, February 4. (Corrected information, the Warning has been moved back to 11pm Monday to 5pm Tuesday.)
The six counties listed are: Prowers, Otero, Kiowa, Las Animas, Bent and Baca Counties. This includes the cities of La Junta, Rocky Ford, Branson, Kim, Eads, Sheridan Lake, Las Animas, Lamar, Springfield and Walsh.
The area impacted is the southeast Colorado Plains east of the I-25 Corridor. A Pacific storm system will intensify over the Plains late this afternoon and spread snow, as much as from 5 to 9 inches, across the region tonight and Tuesday.
Winds will be north/northeasterly at from 10 to 20 MPH, producing areas of blowing snow. Hazardous travel conditions are expected due to a combination of snow, blowing snow, poor visibility and ice and snow covered highways.
