Three Injured in Bent County Crash

The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a single vehicle crash that occurred on westbound Colorado Highway 50, two miles east of La Junta, Colorado. The crash resulted in a female passenger suffering serious bodily injuries. 

A 2003 Toyota Camry driven by Jacob Montoya, age 24, of Las Animas, Colorado was traveling westbound, when it traveled off the north side of the road, rolled two times and ejected the front seat passenger.  Jacob Montoya was wearing his safety belt at the time of the crash and was transported to Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. 

The front passenger, Celia Gallegos, age 25, of Las Animas, Colorado was not wearing her safety belt at the time of the crash and was ejected. Ms. Gallegos was transported via Flight for Life to Memorial Hospital with serious bodily injuries.  The rear driver side passenger, Jesse Aragon, age 20, of Las Animas, Colorado was wearing his safety belt at the time of the crash and was released with no injuries. 

The other rear passenger, a 12 year-old female, of Las Animas, Colorado was wearing her safety belt at the time of the crash and was transported to the Arkansas Valley Medical Center with minor injuries.

At this time, the crash is still under investigation. Alcohol is not considered to be a factor in the crash.
