In mismatches, a scoreless quarter can be common. But, for a team to be goose-egged in an entire half, now that’s a little more rare. However, that event took place last Thursday when Wiley took on #2 Eads in girls action.
A blow-out victory was all but expected for Eads, as the Lady Eagles took a record with just one blemish into the contest, while Wiley’s record was almost a mirror image, sporting a single win. Eads raced its way to a 32-0 halftime edge, behind quarters of 19-0 and 13-0. The second half was far more competitive, as Wiley nearly matched the point total for Eads, eventually dropping the contest by a 51-16 count.
Freshman Peighton Lindo led the Lady Panthers with four points and three steals. Three Lady Panthers each tallied three points in the contest. Wiley connected on just three of 34 field goal attempts in the game, but had assists on two of those three makes.
It will be a tough bounce back weekend for the Lady Panthers as they visit Holly on Friday and host Genoa-Hugo on Saturday.
