Students at area high schools, area residents and Lamar Community College students will receive career advice from the New Career and Transfer Center which celebrated its grand opening at LCC Thursday, February 6.
The Center will assist persons to help make the right career choice for them and will guide students into the correct degree plan for a future degree from a four-year university by selecting the school that will best fit your pursuit of a degree. Career tests can also be given to help a person determine their likes for a future job and associated field of study to achieve their selections. Some fields of study at LCC include: agriculture, business, computer technician, cosmetology, Horse Training and Management, nursing, history, psychology, welding and soil and crop sciences.
The ribbon cutting event was hosted by students from Joseph Shields’ Intro to Marketing class and attended by representatives from the Lamar Chamber of Commerce and Chamber Honkers. The offices are located on the first floor of the Bowman Building. Additional information on the Career Center is available from Resource Counselor Deanna Siemsen, Academic Coordinator/Career Coach Caitlin Schmidt and Transfer Coordinator Berna Griego.
