Cole Burns Awarded Rod Crum Memorial Scholarship

Rod Crum MemorialCole Burns, son of Dwight and Jackie Burns of Holly was recently awarded the Rod Crum Memorial Scholarship for 2014.

The Scholarship was established in 2006 in honor of the late Rodney Kent Crum who farmed and ranched in the southeast Colorado area. It was his thought that a student might finish their college education if they had the opportunity to begin the process. The scholarship is awarded to a Prowers or Kiowa county Senior who has been a member of 4-H or FFA for at least two years and is based on character, desire and goals.

Cole Burns has been a member of 4-H for 10 years. He is a member of the National Honor Society, as well as a consistent state qualifier in wrestling and the Co-captain of the wrestling squad. He plans to pursue his college education at West Texas A&M in Canyon Texas, majoring in animal science, with the goal of obtaining a Doctorate in Veterinarian Medicine.

The Rod Crum family wishes this year’s recipient much success in his endeavors.
