SBDC Logo BigLA JUNTA — An Advanced QuickBooks Pro Workshop will be offered on Feb. 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lamar Community College in Betz Hall room 231. The workshop will be sponsored as a partnership between the Small Business Management Program at Lamar Community College and the La Junta Small Business Development Center. Christine Bullock, Small Business Management instructor for Lamar Community College, will present the class.

“This is not an introductory course in accounting software. This workshop will specifically benefit those individuals who are already using QuickBooks Pro but may be facing challenges in specific areas,” said Bullock.

“QuickBooks Pro is a very powerful program, but few individuals use it with ease. My goal for this workshop will be to either answer the participant’s questions or lead them in the right direction to finding a solution,” Bullock added.

There is no charge for the class, but participants must notify Bill Dutro, Small Business Development Center director, at (719) 384-6959 or email at bill.dutro@ojc.edu prior to the event to ensure a seat. The workshop is limited to 20 participants, so early registration is recommended. The program will be offered again in the future if there is sufficient interest from the community.

For those wishing to bring their own laptops, internet access will be available. A lunch break will be taken from 11:30 to 1:00 with participants responsible for their own lunches.

Earlier this academic year, Lamar Community College and Otero Junior College combined resources to provide seamless access throughout Baca, Bent, Cheyenne, Crowley, Kiowa, Otero and Prowers Counties to the Small Business Management program as well as the Agri-business Management program. This workshop is another example of this regional cooperation.

“The Small Business Management Program is a certificate program designed for small business owners. All instruction is delivered one-on-one at the student’s place of business. We bring the classroom to the student,” said Bullock. “The added convenience of not having to be on campus two or three times a week really benefits our students, who are typically pressed for time. We work around their work schedule, not the colleges’ classroom schedules.”

The courses offered through the Small Business Management Program are useful for owners, managers, bookkeepers and anyone else who needs to learn small business management skills. For further information regarding the Small Business Management Program, please contact Christine Bullock at 719-336-1522 or by email at christine.bullock@lamarcc.edu.
