LPD Makes Local Counterfeit Currency Arrest

On Wednesday, January 1, 2014, the Lamar Police Department received calls concerning counterfeit currency being passed at local businesses in Lamar. Officers were able to identify a suspect from witnesses information and video surveillance as Billi Jo Rider, W/F age 35, of Wiley.
Officers made application for and were granted a search warrant to search the residence in Wiley for evidence of counterfeiting. The Prowers County Sheriff’s Office was advised of the investigation and responded with Lamar Officers in the service of the warrant. During the execution of the search warrant, officers discovered additional counterfeit bills and items used in the manufacture of the counterfeit bills.
Billi Jo Rider and Mario Guevara, age 31, of Lamar were arrested at the scene. Both parties were held on $4000.00 bond at the Prowers County Jail.
