On Tuesday, December 3, 2013, Officers of the Lamar Police Department responded to the area of 6th Street and South Pearl on the report of an individual defacing a power box.  Upon Officers arrival they contacted Adam M. Olivas, age 19, in the proximity of a power box which had been the target of graffiti.  Officers observed the word SADAM written on the power box with a bluish colored medium.  Officer also observed two boxes of artist chalk sitting on the power box.  While speaking with Olivas, Officers observed a blue colored substance on his hand.  Olivas admitted to officers that he had defaced the power box.  Another blue pastel chalk was located on his person during a search incidental to his arrest.

Olivas was transported to the Prowers County Jail where he was booked and held pending a $750 dollar bond on the charge of criminal mischief.

The Lamar Police Department is currently investigating several other incidents involving criminal mischief which are tied to Olivas by his distinctive style.  One of those cases involves painted graffiti on the walls of a historic building on Maple Street.  Additional charges are anticipated against Olivas.

The Lamar Police Department would like to thank the individuals who took the time to report the incident on 6th at Pearl.  Without their involvement a destructive criminal would still be defacing the city.
