A late afternoon call this past Friday, November 22, sent 18 Lamar Fire and Ambulance crews to 701 West Washington Street to extinguish a fire that developed from electrical heat tape.
The resident, an elderly woman, was on the front steps of her trailer home when responders arrived at 3:30pm and she was given shelter and a medical exam in one of the ambulances while crews entered her home.
There were no injuries beyond smoke inhalation on the part of the occupant, but the trailer home was considered a total loss.
