Ringing the Bells for Holiday Hopes

The Lamar Ministerial Alliance and Salvation Army is seeking volunteers to ring the bells during the holiday season donation drive.
Volunteers will spend two hours on weekends between November 29 and December 23 in front of various shopping areas in Lamar. Their bell ringing will be the focal point for persons to offer cash contributions for the needy during the holidays. John Maxwell of the Lamar Compassion Center said the goal is up to $20,000 this year. “Last year the volunteers collected about $15,000 and we’d like to be able to increase that if we can,” he stated.
The hours of sign-up will run from 8am to 6pm at most locations on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, depending on store hours. Some outlets, he said, will be open later than others so the volunteers may stay longer at those stores.
The locations are Safeway, Wal Mart, ALCO, Thriftway and The Dollar Store. Folks who want to sign up for their two hour shift can do so at lamarcobellringers@gmail.com.
