A Funeral Mass for longtime Granada resident, Ray Estrada will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, November 29, 2013 at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church in Holly with Reverend Charlie Sena officiating. A Rosary service will be held prior to the Mass at 9:30 AM also at the church. A Rite of Committal and Military Honors under the auspices of the Lamar VFW Post #3621 will be held Hillside Cemetery in Granada following the Mass.
Visitation for Ray will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Peacock Funeral Home.
Ray or “Chief” as he was affectionately called by his family and friends was born on November 20, 1920 at Tucson, AZ to Bartolo and Rita (Escalante) Estrada and passed away on November 25, 2013 at his home in Granada at the age of 93.
Mr. Estrada is preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Adela, Jenni, Rita, Connie and Rafaela, his brothers; Angel, Mike, Nick, Bart and Joe as well as his grandson Aaron Estrada.
Chief is survived by his wife Eloise Estrada of the family home in Granada. His children; Ray Jr.(Leticia) Estrada of Santana, KS, Gloria (Earl) Martinez of Lamar, Mark Estrada of Garden City, KS, Paul (Barbara) Estrada of Pueblo and Terri (Jeff) Best of Thornton. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 18 Great grandchildren, two sisters; Carmen Borunda and Mary Butler of Brawley, CA as well as numerous other family and many friends.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church direct or in care of the funeral home office.
