Carolyn M. Medina…February 28, 1936 – November 10, 2013

             Mass of Christian burial for Las Animas, Colorado resident Carolyn Medina will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Las Animas, CO.  Interment will follow at the Bent/Las Animas Cemetery.  Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m.

            Carolyn M. (Tanner) Medina was born on February 28, 1936 to Robert and Simona (Brito) Tanner in Las Animas, Colorado.  She passed away on November 10, 2013 at the Bent County Nursing Care Center in Las Animas at the age of 77.

            Carolyn married Telesforo Medina in Raton, NM on July 11, 1953.  They were blessed with three daughters.  Carolyn loved Bingo, quilting, sewing, and cooking.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Las Animas.

            She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Tafoya and husband, Leonard of La Junta, CO and Cathy Eckert and husband, Robert of Round Rock, TX; brothers, Joe Tanner and wife, Janie of Denver, CO, Richard Tanner of Pueblo, CO, and George Tanner of Chula Vista, CA; five grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.

            Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Shirley Ann on May 4, 2010; husband, Telesforo Medina on January 19, 2011; brother, Jack Tanner; and two sisters, Emilina Tanner and Margaret Trujillo.

            Memorial contributions may be made to Arkansas Valley Hospice, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, or Bent Nursing Care Center in care of Horber Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 431, Las Animas, CO 81054.
