The music of Clare Dunn, southeast Colorado songstress, helped pack the Lamar Community Building for the annual Farm/City Banquet, sponsored by the Lamar Chamber of Congress this past Friday, November 15.
The event has been highlighted over the past years by various entertainers who serve as a capstone for the night’s festivities. Friday saw a sellout crowd enjoying the buffet meal served by District FFA students, under the direction of advisor, Cliff Marts. “The proceeds from the meal help pay for the annual cost of transportation to the annual FFA convention,” Marts explained. He noted that the funds also pay for awards, FFA jackets and speakers for seminars hosted by the District FFA.
There was also a healthy audience in the off-the-floor seats for those who came out for music only, estimated at over 100 attendees. Concert-goers could opt for a lesser priced ticket to attend just the musical portion of the evening. Dunn, who graduated from Pritchett High School, kept the conversation low-key, remarking on the collaboration and creation of the songs she was performing.
Carcass winner premiums were also distributed, with Pat Palmer identifying the sponsors and top sellers of livestock from the earlier Sand and Sage Fair. There were five awards presented with four of the students available that evening, 1st – Zane Tempel with Buyer-Tri County Ford, 2nd – Joel Souders with Buyer-Brase Insurance, 3rd – Sam Rink with Buyer-Milton Rink, 4th – Bud Alm with Buyer Doug Butler (not present, and 5th – Trevor Butler with Buyer Brase Insurance.
