Two in Custody on Child Abuse Case

On Tuesday, October 15, 2013, detectives and officers from the Lamar Police Department responded to the 400 block of Kendall Drive, for a report of an infant suffering from child abuse. 

Officers observed numerous injuries to the child that were not consistent with the statements provided by the victim’s mother and her significant other.  Prowers County Department of Social Services received an emergency court order to take immediate custody of the child.  The child was treated and transferred to Pueblo for additional medical treatment and evaluation. 

Shauna Deltour, the victim’s mother, was taken into custody by the investigating officers, and transported to the Prowers County Jail where she is being held on a $1,500 bond.   Officers were able to locate and interview a second suspect in the case, Devin Barton.  Based upon the investigation Barton was also taken into custody and transported to the Prowers County Jail where he is being held on a $25,000 any type bond for this case, as well as a no bond warrant from Oklahoma.   

At the present time the investigation is still continuing and additional criminal charges may be filed.
