Graveside services for Las Animas, Colorado resident, Lois Evaline Kenworthy will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Bent/Las Animas Cemetery in Las Animas, Colorado. Visitation will be held from 1:00-5:00p.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Horber Funeral Chapel in Las Animas.
Lois Evaline (Phillips) Kenworthy affectionately known to others as Evaline, was born to Carl and Pearl (Scaman) Phillips on March 12, 1920 in Las Animas, Colorado. She passed away on September 8, 2013 at Bent County Memorial Nursing Home in Las Animas at the age of 93.
Evaline grew up on farms and ranches in Southeastern Colorado before moving to Pennsylvania with her first husband, Robert Watkins. She then married Maurice Kenworthy in 1961. Evaline was a rancher’s wife for over 40 years. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Evaline is survived by her children, Carl Watkins and wife, Josephine of Las Animas, CO, Darlene Coffield and husband, Tom of Cheraw, CO, Charley Watkins and wife, Donna of Colorado Springs; siblings, Gale Phillips and wife, Eva of Las Animas, Rosella Smith of Rocky Ford, CO, Don Phillips and wife, Charlotte of Eads, CO, Fern Morlan and husband, Harold of Las Animas, and Darlene Sacks of Peabody, KS; 8 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Pearl Phillips; first husband, Robert Watkins; second husband, Maurice Kenworthy; brothers, Sterling and Charles Phillips; and sister, Virginia Stoker.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bent County Memorial Nursing Home or Pioneer Historical Society.
