Now that all the work is completed on Highway 50, residents and visitors can drive right into Hasty on Saturday, September 21 and enjoy themselves with a day full of family oriented activities.
No need to cook breakfast, as the McClave Volunteer Fire Department will serve pancakes from 7am to 9am that morning, just in time for the parade entries to start lining up at the firehouse. The 10am parade is sponsored by the Bent County Chamber of Commerce and the $5 entry fee will be used for a scholarship fund. After the parade the Classic Car and Motorcycle Show will begin.
A lunch will be served at Valley Grocery from 11:30am to 1pm and is sponsored by the Southeast Colorado Cattlewomen. Vendors can set up their tables and booth space is FREE. All types of fun contests will be held between 1pm and 5pm, ranging from a sack race, watermelon seed spitting contest, water balloon toss, doughnut eating contest or goat dressing.
Now that you’ve worked up an appetite, stick around for the Pierce Pit BBQ from 5:30pm to 7pm and the street dance will follow until 11pm with music provided by Freddy Darnell and the Country Gold. The evening will be highlighted by a 9:30pm fireworks display. (if there is no fire ban)
