The aroma of freshly brewed coffee is emanating from the storefront at Brew Unto Others at 119 South Main Street in Lamar, formerly the home of Curves.
Manager Renee Beebe said the new coffee shop will be open Monday through Saturday and features free Wifi, a separate conference room for business meetings and a playroom at the rear of the coffee shop for youngsters and toddlers. The menu is limited on baked goods at the moment, featuring pre-wrapped muffins, cookies and breads, but the folks behind the counter can mix an assortment of coffees, teas and other beverages, hot or cold.
“In the near future, we’ll be licensed for cold cut sandwiches and wraps that we can make on the premises,” Beebe explained. “We want to be open to the general public, for someone who wants to take a mid morning or afternoon break and get a beverage,” she added. Beebe said Brew Unto Others will make a point to be accessible to the college and older high school crowd as well. “Lamar Community College is an important feature to our community and we think our place would be a welcome addition for college students to get away from dorm life for an afternoon and meet other folks from our area,” she continued, “Brew Unto Others is going to be known in the community as a family-friendly location.”
Open as of this past Monday, August 5, the coffee shop staff is still working on the menu and perfecting the new art of coffee and beverage making. Beebe said hours will be from 6am to 6pm, Monday through Thursday, from 6am to 10pm on Friday and from 8am to about noon on Saturday.
