Hickenlooper Plans 12 Stops in Two Days in S.E. Colorado

DENVER — Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013 — Gov. John Hickenlooper will make 12 stops over two days next week during community forums on the Eastern Plains and in Southern Colorado. These meetings will be similar to community forums held last month in Grand Junction and Glenwood Springs.

The two-day tour will begin Tuesday, Aug. 13, in Sterling, followed by stops in Akron, Burlington, Cheyenne Wells, Lamar and Springfield. On Wednesday, Aug. 14, community forums will be held in Trinidad, Alamosa, Salida, Del Norte and Pagosa Springs.

The governor will join business and community leaders at the each of the forums to discuss water, economic development, healthcare, education and other issues important to community members.

Here is a detailed schedule for the two-day tour:

Tuesday, Aug. 13

  • Sterling, 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. Northeastern Junior College, Hays Student Center – Tennant Art Gallery, 100 College Ave.

  • Akron, 10 to 10:45 a.m. Y-W Electric Association Inc. Community Room, 250 Main Ave.

  • Burlington, 12:45 to 1:30 p.m. Burlington Community Center, 340 S 14th St.

  • Cheyenne Wells, 2:15 to 2:45 p.m. John Deere Dealership, 44578 Highway 40.

  • Lamar, 4:15 to 4:45 p.m. Lamar Community Center, 610 S. 6th St.

  • Springfield, 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Baca County Resource Center, 1260 Main St.

Wednesday, Aug. 14

  • Trinidad, 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. A.R. Mitchell Memorial Museum of Western Art, 150 E. Main St.

  • Alamosa, 10:30 to 11 a.m. City Council Chambers, 300 Hunt Ave.

  • Salida, 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. SteamPlant Event Center, 220 W. Sackett Ave. This forum is hosted and organized by The Denver Forum.

  • Del Norte, 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. Rio Grande County Annex, 965 6th St.

  • Pagosa Springs, 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. Pagosa Brewing and Grill, 118 N. Pagosa Blvd.
