EMT Training to be Offered in Walsh

EMT

(WALSH, COLORADO) The Walsh Ambulance Service in conjunction with Southeast Colorado Hospital Ambulance Service is happy to announce that we will be having an Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-B) Course in Walsh.

EMTs are used to provide prompt patient care and to transport sick or injured patients to a hospital. Our EMS agency relies solely on volunteers to provide our ambulance service. Without individuals stepping forward we would not be able to provide emergency medical services to Walsh and the surrounding areas. Rural EMS agencies in communities such as Walsh are finding it difficult to continue to provide care to their citizens due to the lack of volunteers in today’s demanding world. We are looking for volunteers who would like to give back to their community and grow personally.

The Walsh Ambulance service is looking for individuals who are 18 years of age or older to become EMTs. Becoming an EMT can open the door for other medical fields such as Nursing and Paramedic programs. Our programs are always open to surrounding area residents as well.

The Walsh Ambulance Service will begin EMT classes on Tuesday, September 03, 2013, at 6pm at the Walsh Ambulance Service Class Room located at 400 N Kansas in Walsh. Classes will be held every Tuesday and Thursday with the exception of holidays. If you are interested in taking the class, please call the Walsh Ambulance Service at 719-347-1367, so we can ensure that we have enough books before the class starts. If you have any questions regarding the class or the process of becoming an EMT do not hesitate to call as well.

The Walsh Ambulance Service provides a combination of Basic and Advanced Life Support to residents, visitors and travelers in the Eastern Portion of Baca County from County Road 32 to the Kansas State Line. The Ambulance Service is operated under the Walsh Hospital District. Our service is made up of volunteers who are paid on call. Without volunteers we would not be able to have an ambulance service. If you are willing to give to your community we would be glad to have you.
