Lamar City Sales Tax Posts Minor Gain for May

The City of Lamar Sales Tax for May of this year showed a 2.2% increase over 2012 figures and a $5,982 increase in revenue. Actually, City Sales Tax declined slightly at 0.95%, but the balance was made up through Use Tax Collections, which were up 53%. Year to date collections continue to make monthly increases, up 2.45% for May for a revenue increase of $41,700 over the same month last year. Total collections for the year are $1,740,916, compared to 2012 which was %1,699,216.
The 12 retail trades categories were split almost evenly on tax collections, gains for losses, for year to date summaries between 2011 and 2013.
