    Funeral Services for Las Animas, Colorado resident, Joseph Samuel Palomino will be held on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Horber Funeral Chapel in Las Animas. Burial with full Military Honors will follow at Fort Lyon National Cemetery.

     Joseph Samuel Palomino, 66 of Las Animas, Colorado passed away July 8, 2013 at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center in La Junta, CO.  He was better known to most people as “Sam”. Sam was born on October 10, 1946 in Las Animas, Colorado to Adolf and Romona (Baca) Palomino. He grew up in Las Animas, graduated from Las Animas High School and spent most of his life here.

     Sam enlisted into the United States Air Force and was stationed in Florida but served in Korea and Japan for the length of his service.  He returned home to Las Animas the summer of 1969.  After returning home Sam worked at Fort Lyon and later in life with the United States Postal Service; where he retired from.

     In his free time Sam enjoyed photography, fishing, whittling and carving wood and spending time with friends.  He had a love for all animals and people.

     He is preceded in death by his parents; Adolf and Ramona Palomino; older brother, Charles Palomino; and nephew, Charles Palomino.

     Sam is survived by his two children; son, Christopher Palomino and wife, Ronda of Loveland, Colorado; and daughter, Vanessa Palomino of Fort Collins, Colorado; four siblings, Ben Palomino and wife, Kathy of Pueblo, Colorado, Raymond Palomino and wife, Betty of Gulfport, Mississippi, Irene Garcia and husband, Jesse of Las Animas, Colorado, and Cathy Province of Fowler, Colorado; three grandchildren, Marcus Palomino, Dallas Palomino and Hunter Palomino of Loveland, Colorado; nieces and nephews, Ben, Matt, Lisa, Mona, David, Rick, Anita, Keith, Grant, Jesse and Michelle.

     He lived a simple life with great friends and a caring family.
