On June 1st, 2013 our husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Milton Gribble left us to join the other stars in the heavens. Milton was born on April 20th, 1940 at home in Olney Springs to Willis and Marguerite Gribble.
Milton was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter (Patricia), four brothers (Francis, James and two infants) and one sister (Clara). Milton is survived by his wife of 42 years, Dorothy, four children Rebecca (Cecil) Gribble of La Junta, Dorothy (Lance) Hetrick of Two Buttes, Misty Felz of Las Animas, and Milton II (Jennifer) Gribble of Burlington. Thirteen grandchildren; Misty, Matthew, Christopher, Kemberli, Katie, Austin, Logan, Morgan, Michelle, Jessie, Milton III, Shiloh and Zoey. Ten great-grandchildren; Alexander, Michael, Darren, Layla, Madison, Hailey, Katelynn, Connor, Aiden and Abby. Milton’s grandchildren were one of his greatest joys. Milton is also survived by two sisters, seven brothers, multiple nieces and nephews and one very special niece Anna Gribble.
Milton had many jobs but his favorite times were spent working on a ranch south of Haswell. Milton always had a smile and loved to tell jokes. He spent many years playing and singing at the senior citizens dances and loved it. Milton will always and forever be missed by his family and friends but will never be forgotten because how do we forget our hero?
Instead of flowers the family asks that donations be sent in Milton’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Milton did not want a funeral so the family will be holding a short time of togetherness to remember him at 449 2nd Street, Las Animas, Colorado on Saturday June 8th at 10:00 am.
