Memorial Day ceremonies were held this past weekend by members of the Lamar Eagles Aerie. The event was highlighted by the participation of James Kimble of Montrose. Kimble, 89, is a Navajo veteran who served in the 101st Airborne Division during WWII as a paratrooper. He was visiting the Lamar area during the weekend, visiting with family members.
The Eagles provided a dinner during the weekend for a minimum $6.00 charge, although all veterans were provided with the meal for free. Gerry Jenkins, of the Eagles Auxiliary, and on behalf of the Aerie, thanks all those who participated in their Memorial Day observances.
The weekend Color Guard was comprised of Alfred Adame, Louie Torrez, Jesse Herrera, Don Peters, Travis Black, Joe Baca, James Kimble and Pete Hernandez as trumpeter.
