Sagecoach State Park opens to boating for the season
Colorado Parks and Wildlife has opened Stagecoach State Park to boaters, with the Marina Boat Ramp now open and the Morrison Cove Boat Ramp scheduled to open Memorial Day weekend. The Stagecoach Marina store will be open Friday, May 24 and will offer basic camping supplies, boating needs and boat or canoe rentals. Due to early season conditions, Colorado Parks and Wildlife cautions boaters to be on the lookout for floating debris and unmarked hazards.

Eleven Mile State Park opens to boating for the season
Eleven Mile State Park officials opened the reservoir to boating on April 30 after the last stubborn ice sheets exited the reservoir. The North Shore Boat Ramp will be open each day from one half hour before sunrise to one half hour after sunset through October. For the time being, the Witcher’s Cove Boat Ramp will remain closed. Night time boating is prohibited at Eleven Mile Reservoir. Recent surveys show that there are a number of large, healthy pike in Eleven Mile. In order to maintain a good balance between trout and pike, CPW is encouraging anglers to harvest any pike they catch. CPW continues to stock 8″-12″ trout in order to limit the number of trout the pike can eat. A similar program was established at nearby Spinney Mountain Reservoir several years ago and has resulted in a healthy population of trout over 20″ long.

Antero boat ramp opens, limits reinstated, Denver Water won’t drain
Due to Denver Water’s decision not to drain Antero this year, Colorado Parks and Wildlife is reinstating the bag and possession limit to two trout per angler effective immediately. The north boat ramp opened on Monday, May 6 at Antero and Colorado Parks and Wildlife inspectors are available seven days a week from 30 minutes before sunset until 30 minutes after sunset. The south ramp will remain closed until inspectors can be hired and trained to staff the ramp.

Boaters: New ballast tank rules for 2013! Remember those green seals!
Remember to get your green seals applied upon leaving your favorite reservoir.  Green seals and valid receipts together tell us where your boat has been, and make the entrance inspection easier and faster the next time you launch. New this year: Boats with ballast tanks will need to get a green seal and receipt when exiting a reservoir or the boat will have to be decontaminated when entering a new water body – so be sure to ask for that seal every time! No water, no mud, no plants, no mussels in between each and every use.
