Earth Day Coloring Contest Winner Selected

Earth Day is a nationwide celebration held on April 22nd that promotes “environmental goodwill” throughout communities and emphasizes the importance of protecting our environment and natural resources. The Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS) Earth Team is a volunteer program that uses volunteer time, talent and energy to help accomplish the NRCS mission of helping people help the land. Prowers Conservation District (PCD) is always lending a hand with this program for children and adults. This year marks the seventh annual Earth Day Coloring Contest. The theme this year for Area 3, which consist of La Junta, Canon City, Cheyenne Wells, Colorado Springs, Eads, Hugo, Lamar, Las Animas, Northeast Prowers, Pueblo, Rocky Ford, Salida, Silver Cliff, Springfield, Teller & Park County, Trinidad, and Walsenburg, is Healthy Soils Grow Healthy Food. Prowers Conservation would like to Congratulate Gabriela Gomez for being the Area 3 Overall Fifth Grader. She is in Miss Uhland’s 5th grade class in Wiley, Colorado.
