Prowers County Sheriff’s March 2013 Report

 

The Prowers County Sheriff’s Office received 271 calls for service for March, 2013.  Lamar placed 144 calls, followed by 88 from the county and 26 from Holly.  Fifty of the Lamar calls were jail related and 23 were for warrant arrests.  Lamar also had 30 calls for serving papers and restraining orders.  Traffic accidents and related problems accounted for 22 calls from the county in March and there were two theft reports and one minor in possession.  Holly hosted three harassment calls, two traffic accidents and one minor in possession.  Five criminal summonses were issued by the Sherriff’s Department and there were 25 traffic citations and 28 warning tickets issued. 

The department had two new cases assigned for investigations, 10 cases were cleared and 16 cases resulted in charges being filed.  At this time, five investigations are still active.   

Year to date numbers for inmates booked since January is 332 with 126 booked for March of this year and 112 for the same month last year.  Ninety-five inmates are male and 31 are female.  Five inmates were reported to immigration authorities in March. 

6,430 people were screened at the Prowers County Courthouse in March for a daily average of 306.  Courthouse security made 11 arrests on individuals based on warrants and a probationary client was discovered attempting to enter the courthouse with a knife, which was confiscated. 

Detective T. Weisenhorn arrested Steven Dreiling, 32, of Lamar for weaving and arrested him for possession of methamphetamine, violation of a protection order and domestic violence.  Dreiling was held without bond.  Deputies arrested Jeremy Harris, 38, of Wiley for possession of 12 ounces or more of marijuana, unlawful distribution of marijuana less that five pounds, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Harris was held on $8,000 bond.  Detective Tracy Weisenhorn arrested Jason Saldana, 37, of Lamar for unlawful possession of methamphetamine.  Saldana was held on $4,000 bond. 

The cost of meals at the Prowers County Jail for March was $10,621.53 and inmate medical expenses were $2,342.88.  Expenses for March totaled $174,719.83 and March revenue was $41,959.83.
