Colorado Arts of Recovery, in conjunction with Southeast Mental Health Services, will be hosting an art opening at the Lamar Public Library, 102 E. Parmenter, on Wednesday evening, May 8th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. The evening will feature live music and free refreshments. The public is invited to attend.

The art show is entitled, “Make Your Mark!” featuring a collection of collographs and monoprints by artists in recovery from mental illnesses. While one in five Americans will be diagnosed with a mental illness this year, EVERY American has a unique gift to offer and a positive contribution to make in the world.

Colorado Arts of Recovery is a statewide, grassroots nonprofit organization that was founded in 2007. Volunteers work to promote social inclusion for people living with the challenges of mental illness. Board Chair Nancy Harris King said, “I hope the community will stop by the library to enjoy the artwork and show their support of people living with mental illnesses. Every family is affected by mental illness at some point, and it’s important to know that it is treatable, and people can recover and lead normal lives.”

The show will be on display at the library until the end of May.
