Lamar Preseason Baseball & Softball Spring Camp Returns

In recognition of our ball playing tradition, the LAMAR WORLD SERIES COMMITTEE is sponsoring a PRESEASON BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL SPRING CAMP, under the direction of Diamond Club Baseball, LLC from Wheat Ridge, Colorado.

Diamond Club Baseball, LLC is known for their outstanding instructional facility, youth programs, coaching and baseball teams in the Denver area. They provide year-round personalized instruction to players of all ages and ability levels. Further, Diamond Club Baseball is the home of the Colorado Rockies Scout Team – a carefully selected team of outstanding High School baseball players that travel and showcase their skills in front of college coaches and professional scouts.

CALLING ALL COACHES – WE NEED YOU! We need the help of our area coaches to make this a successful camp. Diamond Club will bring two professional baseball coaches and two professional softball coaches with extensive backgrounds. Their professional coaches will provide our coaches with the skills and tools to work with our players throughout the season. As a volunteer coach, you will receive a free, three (3) hour training from Diamond Club in exchange for your participation in the camp. Diamond Club is well-known for their hand-picked coaching staff, selected for their teaching technique, professionalism, enthusiasm for the game, and their ability to communicate with young players, which they are prepared to share with our coaches.

The LAMAR PRESEASON BASEBALL & SOFTBALL SPRING CAMPS will consist of three days of intensive skills and technique training. The Baseball Camps will be held on the Jim Earl and Valley National Fields, and the Softball Camps will be held on the Yellow and Green fields.

On Friday, May 3rd, there will be a FREE COACHES CLINIC, to be held at the Lamar Community Building, 610 South 6th, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. This training will prepare our area coaches to facilitate the Baseball and Softball Camps that will run over the following two days. A light dinner will be provided.

On Saturday, May 4th, 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., there will be an ALL SKILLS CAMP for both baseball and softball players covering skills improvements with: hitting mechanics, bat speed, throwing mechanics, defense, footwork, throwing velocity and accuracy, base running and more. The fee is $75 for this clinic.

On Sunday, May 5th, 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., there will be a PITCHING CLINIC, only. The Pitching Clinic will cover a pitchers’ warm-up and a 5-step throwing progression. The fee for this clinic is $40.

ALL CLINICS will be broken down into small groups, for a low coach to player ratio, to cover mechanics and to improve the skills of each and every player. Each clinic is open to player’s ages 8 to 18 – any High School ball players will need a release from their principal to participate.

The LAMAR PRESEASON BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL SPRING CAMP is sponsored by the Lamar World Series Committee, not only to promote the sports of Baseball and Softball in our area, but to encourage the talent of our youth, their coaches, and to support Lamar’s continued heritage of the “love of the game”.
