Preparing for Spring

Construction crews in Lamar and McClave took advantage of the spring-like temperatures this past Friday to move ahead on their respective projects.
Pacific Western Coatings were resurfacing the floors of the three pools at the Lamar Municipal Swimming Pool, as well as the water slide. Normal wear and tear over the years necessitated a new surface where fiberglass had begun to splinter on the slide. All three pools will get a new surface on their floors over the next few weeks. The project, $54,820 had been put into this year’s budget for pool repairs.
Construction crews from Kan-Du construction were at work on Friday, building a community pavilion which will feature restrooms in the 30 by 60 foot structure. Piping has already been installed.
The improvements, funded through a $161,377 grant, as well as funding from the Bent County Recreation District, will include picnic tables, new outdoor lights and new hoops on the adjacent basketball court.
Apparently some kids in the neighborhood already got some basketball practice time on some of the new hoops, as the remainder was being installed.
