February was “Library Lovers’ Month”! Library Lovers’ Month is a month-long celebration of school, public, and private libraries of all types. This is a time for everyone to recognize the value of libraries and to work to assure that the Nation’s libraries continue to serve. In recognition of Library Lovers’ Month, Lamar Public Library sponsored a poster contest for students Kindergarten – 3rd grade in which they were to draw why they love Lamar Public Library.
The contest ran from February 1 through 20 and the library received 96 entries. The library would like to extend a big thanks to the Lamar High School Yearbook Committee for judging all of the entries.
The winners of the 2013 Poster contest are:
1st Grade
Aspen Hawkins
(Alta Vista Charter School)
2nd Grade
America DeLaTorre
(Mrs. Richard, Washington Elementary)
3rd Grade
Shanteya Robles
(Mrs. Straily, Parkview Elementary)
Library Director, Debbie Reynolds, made a special trip to the classroom of each student on Tuesday, March 5th. Each winner received $15.00 in Luv Bucks and a library goodie bag.
Thank you to all students who entered. Each participant will receive a ribbon and all posters will soon be posted at Lamar Public Library.
Be sure to stop by the library and view all the lovely posters!
