George Simmons Sr….March 8, 1944 – January 28, 2013

Memorial services for George “Jay” Simmons, Sr. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Lamar, CO.  Rev. Harold Bohl will officiate.

            George Donnell Simmons, Sr. affectionately known as Jay was born on March 8, 1944 in Pueblo, CO to George W. and Dolly (Glier) Simmons.  He passed away at Parkview Hospital in Pueblo, CO on January 28, 2013, at the age of 68.

            Jay was a truck driver for over 30 years.  He retired from driving while he still had time to enjoy life.  During his retirement he was able to enjoy watching his grandchildren play ball.

            Jay is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy (Brassell) Simmons in 2000; sons, George D. Simmons, Jr. and Leonard Pott, Sr.

            He is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Simmons) Wilson; son, David Pott; sisters, Erma Gallegos and Dora Paiva; grandchildren, Amber Wilson, Rodney Wilson, Jr., Brandon Wilson, Leonard Pott, Jr., James Pott, Olivia Pott, Derek Pott; niece, Susan Loucks.
