Abling Bond Hearing Set for February 20 in Alba Homicide

Marla Abling was ordered to appear in Prowers County District Court on February 20 at 11am for a continuation of charges against her of second degree murder and domestic violence. Abling appeared before Judge Stanley Brinkley Wednesday morning, February 6, in reference to the death of Rory Alba, age 45, of Lamar on January 23. She was represented by Raymond J. Torres, Office Head of the Colorado Public Defenders Office in La Junta as well as Public Defender Russell Zane. The people were represented by District Attorney Jennifer Swanson.

A bond hearing for Abling will be held on the 20th as well as a case management conference. Bond was set at $100,000 following her arrest. Judge Brinkley informed her that if she meets bail, she will be required to attend the February 20 hearing. Abling was turned back over to the Prowers County Sheriff’s Department following her court hearing.
