Funeral services for Lamar, CO resident, Walter Miller will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Lamar, CO. Rev Paul Miller and Rev. Baldwin will co-officiate. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
Walter L. Miller was born on October 4, 1932 in Rocky Ford, CO to John and Mary (Lindt) Miller. He passed away on January 17, 2013 at Loma Linda VA Hospital in Loma Linda, CA at the age of 80.
Walter served in the Army from February 11, 1953 until January 21, 1955. He farmed and worked for Neoplan as well as owning Walt’s Heating and Air Conditioning business and the Sewing Basket with his wife, Viola. In 1994 he and Viola started his favorite “business” of RVing. He enjoyed pitchin’ horseshoes, bowling, shooting pool, fishing, and woodworking.
Walter is survived by his wife, Viola (Appel) Miller of the home; four children, Cathy Turley and husband John of Briggsdale, CO, Larry Miller of Pueblo, CO, Curtis Miller of Lamar, CO, Pam Knespel of LaSalle, CO; sisters, Elsie Bever of North Bend, OR, Mildred Tyree of Auburn, WA, Barbara Wilson and husband J.D. of Sheridan Lake, CO, Rose Satterfield of Collbran, CO; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Miller of Lamar, CO, Ila Fern Miller of La Junta, CO; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and a host of friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Johnson; three brothers, George Elmer Miller, Donell Miller, Johnny Miller; son-in-law, Joe Knespel; and brothers-in-law, Bill Tyree, Bob Johnson, and Harry Satterfield.
