Second Chance Animal Rescue Celebrates TENTH Anniversary

Second Chance Volunteers

Twenty three local volunteers gathered to commemorate TEN years of rescuing animals from Southeast Colorado. Founded in 2002 by Donna Emick, Second Chance rescues and re-homes nearly 500 dogs annually from area shelters in Lamar, Las Animas, Springfield. As well as, dogs, cats and other animals/ birds from communities in the six regional counties. The rescue’s, twice annual spay/neuter programs ‘fixed’ more than 640 dogs and cats in 2012 alone. Second Chance Animal Rescue’s foster based program provides training, socialization and veterinary care to each animal. Local volunteers and adoption counselors participate in an array of rescue activities including office assistance, fundraising, dog walking, training, animal evaluations, photography, adoption and transports. Foster dogs and cats are featured on Petfinder.com and participate in regular pet adoption fairs in Colorado Springs.
