Police Act on Possible Threat at Lamar Middle School

On Tuesday, 01/15/2013, Officers of the Lamar Police Department received information that a juvenile was making threats of violence which were directed towards the Middle School in Lamar. Officers responded and school authorities were advised of the situation.
The juvenile has been charged with Interference with staff, faculty or students of an educational institution which is a class one misdemeanor.
Lamar police officials remind the public that in approximately 80% of the school shootings in America at least one person had information that the attacker was thinking about or planning the school attack. As a result of the early notification from the public, the police investigation and intervention by the school officials a troubled individual has been identified and has been removed from the student population.
